Provence wine tours An exceptional wine and gastronomic stop – Avignon – Capital of the Côtes du Rhône La Mirande is located in the heart of Avignon, an ideal base for discovering the city’s exceptional wine-growing heritage. A stopover at La Mirande means starting your journey with the exquisite, inventive cuisine of our Michelin-starred Chef Florent Pietravalle, accompanied by a wine from our “Top 100 wine lists” of French restaurants, organised by Terre de Vins, and staying in one of the refined rooms with a view of the Pope’s Palace. A good start for Provence Wine Tours! Just 25 minutes north of La Mirande, discover Châteauneuf du Pape and its world-famous vineyards, not forgetting famous appellations such as Cairanne, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, Ventoux, Luberon… Our concierge team will be delighted to help you organise a visit to some of the finest estates.Further south, several wine routes can be chosen: The Aix-en-Provence wine route The Coteaux d’Aix en Provence covers 4,200 hectares of vines and produces mainly rosés. A minority of winegrowers produce white and red wines. The appellation comprises 79 cellars, producing 85% rosés, 9% reds and 6% whites. Many beautiful villages can be visited in tandem with the wine tours: Aix-en-Provence, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence… not forgetting Montagne Sainte-Victoire, with its breathtaking panoramic views. Not to forget, the Alpilles region, which has inspired so many artists (Cézanne, Daudet, Van Gogh…) with its natural site, the village of Baux-de-Provence, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, and very nice wines as well. Bandol wine route Situated between Toulon and Marseille, this appellation produces mainly rosés and reds. The region is superb, starting with the town of Bandol and its beaches and Calanques. We also recommend a visit to the medieval hilltop village of La Cadière d’Azur, which overlooks the vineyards. This renowned appellation boasts some superb estates and winemakers. Coteaux Varois en Provence With an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, this young appellation produces 94% rosé, 3% red and 3% rosé. The rosés are very popular because they are light, fruity and full of body. The vineyards of Provence stretch between the Mediterranean and the Alps, and are spread over 3 departments in the south of France (Var, Bouches-du-Rhône and a small village in Alpes-Maritimes). Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region offers some exceptional wines, divided into 3 categories:Côtes du Rhône Provence wines Independent appellations (Bandol, Les Baux de Provence, Belle, Cassis, Pierrevert and Palette)  The Provence wine route includes no fewer than 8 appellations and several routes. Of these, 3 major appellations (96% of the volume of appellation wines produced in Provence) are world-famous and have their own dedicated wine route.Côtes de Provence and the terroir denominations Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire, Côtes de Provence Fréjus and Côtes de Provence La Londe Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence Coteaux Varois en Provence  Taking the Provence wine route means discovering a wealth of terroir, a range of limpid, fruity and generous rosés and fabulously powerful reds, as well as passing through typical villages and prestigious wine-growing estates.   We hope you enjoy your stay in Provence!
